Kokoškov put 14 ABA League players among 27 candidates on his preliminary squad

Slovenia national team head coach Igor Kokoškov selected 27 candidates to play for the national team this summer, when it will be fighting for a spot at the EuroBasket 2017 in the Qualifying Round. Amongst 27 players there are 14 that played in the ABA League this season.

Slovenia national team head coach Igor Kokoškov selected 27 candidates to play for the national team this summer, when it will be fighting for a spot at the EuroBasket 2017 in the Qualifying Round. Amongst 27 players there are 14 that played in the ABA League this season.

Igor Kokoškov, head coach of Slovenia national team, revealed the cards that he intends to use this summer, when his selection will try to seal its place at the EuroBasket 2017 tournament through the Qualifying Round. There are no less than 14 players from the ABA League in the preliminary squad of 27 players.

"After having made an in-depth analysis of the list of potential national team players I have chosen 27 of them. I made all my decisions and will be making all my decisions in the future having in mind what is the best thing for Slovenian basketball. It was not possible to place all of the players in the preliminary squad and I selected the players by combining some of the experienced ones with the youngsters, from which I expect to prove themselves and take responsibility in the national team as early as this summer,” Slovenia national team head coach told as he presented his preliminary squad.

Kokoškov uvrstil 14 igralcev iz lige ABA med svojih 27 izbrancev

Selektor slovenske moške članske reprezentance Igor Kokoškov je izbral 27 kandidatov za igranje v dresu izbrane vrste to poletje, ko se bo slednja borila za mesto na EuroBasketu 2017 v kvalifikacijah. Med njimi je kar 14 košarkarjev, ki so v tej sezoni nastopali v ligi ABA.

Igor Kokoškov, selektor slovenske članske reprezentance, je razkril karte na katere bo stavil to poletje, ko se bo izbrana vrsta merila v kvalifikacijah za nastop na EuroBasketu 2017. Med 27 izbranci se na širšem seznamu kandidatov nahaja kar 14 košarkarjev, ki so v sezoni 2015/16 nastopali v ligi ABA.

"Po podrobni analizi seznama potencialnih reprezentantov sem se odločil za 27 igralcev. Vse dosedanje odločitve in tudi tiste v prihodnje bom sprejel zgolj s pogledom na to, kaj je najboljše za košarko v Sloveniji. Na seznam je bilo nemogoče uvrstiti vse igralce, svojo odločitev pa sem baziral na kombinaciji nekaterih izkušenih in mladih igralcev, od katerih pričakujem, da se bodo dokazali in prevzeli odgovornost v reprezentanci že to poletje,” je ob objavi seznama dejal selektor slovenske moške članske reprezentance.
