Serbia head coach Đorđević announced final roster for Rio 2016

Aleksandar Đorđević selected the 12 players who will represent Serbia at the upcoming basketball tournament in Rio 2016. Serbia head coach decided to cut Nemanja Dangubić and Marko Gudurić from the final roster.

"Dangubić and Gudurić had the same status in the national team as the other players. Unfortunately, there was not enough time for them to show all of their skills, as we had a very short period of preparation for the Olympic Games. As the duration of our preparations was quite short and specific, they simply did not get the right chance to fight for the place in the team. Nevertheless, they were outstanding at every training, their behavior was impeccable, and we can all be proud on their work in the last 5 weeks. I am grateful for everything they have done for the national team and I am sure that we have players for future," said Đorđević.

This is the basketball team of Serbia that will play at the Olympic Games 2016:

Point guards: Stefan Jović, Miloš Teodosić.

Shooting guards: Stefan Marković, Nemanja Nedović, Bogdan Bogdanović.

Small forwards: Nikola Kalinić, Marko Simonović.

Power forwards: Milan Mačvan, Stefan Birčević.

Centers: Miroslav Raduljica, Nikola Jokić, Vladimir štimac.

Đorđević odredio tim za Rio

Selektor seniorske reprezentacije Aleksandar Đorđević odredio je 12 igrača koje će voditi na pripremni turnir u Argeniti kao i na olimpijski turnir u Riju. Na spisku putnika neće biti Nemanja Dangubić i Marko Gudurić, pa će u ponedeljak u Kordobu krenuti sledećih 12 igrača: Stefan Jović, Marko Simonović, Bogdan Bogdanović, Nikola Kalinić, Milan Mačvan, Stefan Marković, Nemanja Nedović, Miroslav Raduljica, Miloš Teodosić, Nikola Jokić, Vladimir štimac i Stefan Birčević.

"Dangubić i Gudurić su bili ravnopravni članovi reprezentacije. Na žalost nije bilo dovoljno vremena da se nametnu, pošto smo imali jako kratak period za uigravanje za utakmice kvalifikacionog turnira. Zbog specifičnosti i kratkog trajanja ovih priprema, oni jednostavno nisu ni dobili pravu šansu da izbore mesto u timu. Bez obzira na to, svaki trening su odradili fenomenalno, ponašali se besprekorno. I mi i oni možemo da budemo ponosni na ono što su uradili za ovih pet nedelja i siguran sam da imamo igrače za budućnost. Zahvalan sam im na svemu što su pružili reprezentaciji," istakao je selektor Srbije, Aleksandar Đorđević.
