They are here! The Rio Olympics 2016 are just about to begin, while one of the most interesting events at the upcoming Games will definitely be the basketball tournament (6-21 August).
There are 12 teams which are still living their Olympic dream, with Serbia and Croatia among them! By winning the Olympic Qualification Tournaments, the two teams from this region secured their spots at the most prestigious basketball event in the world. Now, they will try to reach the ultimate glory and to return home with a medal.
Croatia and Serbia will start competition from different groups.
Serbia will play in Group A, together with USA, France, Venezuela, China and Australia. On the other side, Croatia will play in Group B, alongside Brazil, Spain, Argentina, Lithuania and Nigeria.
The top 4 teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals.
The basketball tournament at the Rio Olympics starts on Saturday, August 6, while the gold medal match is scheduled for Sunday, August 21.
In the first round, Serbia will play against Venezuela (Sunday, 03:00 CET), while Croatia will face Spain (Monday, 00:00 CET).
