ABA League Round 8, Sunday, 22 November 2020:

BUDUĆNOST VOLI - CIBONA

Where? Morača Sports Hall, Podgorica

When? 17:00

Story of the game: It was November 2012 when Cibona defeated Budućnost VOLI in Podgorica for the last time in ABA League. Since then, the Wolves suffered 7 consecutive defeats at this court, therefore letting Budućnost VOLI to take over the lead in their overall head-to-head score.

And these two sides are about to meet again in Podgorica this Sunday evening in 2020/21 ABA League regular season Round 8.

This will be the first match for Budućnost VOLI in ABA League in almost a month, as their previous three games were postponed due to a rising number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the blue-and-white team. Budućnost VOLI squad returned to action last week in EuroCup and they scored a pretty big win against Germani Brescia on the road on Friday evening, while now they will try to score another win in ABA League and stay one of just two undefeated teams in the regular season.

Cibona lost the previous two games in ABA League and their current score of 2-5 is certainly not something that pleases the Zagreb side. The 2014 ABA League champions want to show that they are much better than their current score tells and they will be fully motivated to try to take the precious win in Podgorica.

Match-up in focus: Melvin Ejim was the top scorer of Budućnost VOLI in their Friday’s EuroCup game against Germani Brescia, while he is the team’s 3rd best scorer in the 2020/21 ABA League regular season. His direct opponent as the small forward position in this game will be Roko Prkačin who is the 3rd best scorer of Cibona in the ongoing season. Prkačin was Cibona’s best player last weekend in the match against Partizan NIS.

Head to head in the regional league: In total 20:14; In Podgorica 12:5.
