Serbia national team made a first step towards reaching their goal and qualifying for the Olympic Basketball Tournament in Rio de Janeiro. The squad, led from the bench by head coach Aleksandar Đorđević, was better than Puerto Rico in the opener of the Olympic Qualifyers.

Serbia senior national team have successfully began their "Mission Rio 2016”, as they have grabbed a win in the first game of the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Belgrade in a convincing fashion.

After a slow start in the first quarter and Puerto Rican lead after 10 minutes (22:21), the home side made a difference in the second and third quarters, which they won by 19 points combined and led by 18 before the beginning of the last period.

The game was decided and all that the guests managed to do until the end was to cut the deficit to only 6 points by the end.

Nemanja Nedović was Serbia"s top scorer with 14 points on his account, while Bogdan Bogdanović, Nikola Kalinić, Stefan Birčević and Nikola Jokić followed him with 12 each.
