We have all enjoyed in the 2016/17 ABA League Regular Season, while these are some things that will probably stay in our memory for a long, long time.

This is our list of the TOP 10 things that marked the 2016/17 ABA League Regular Season:

10. ABA League and European competitions

More than half of ABA League teams have played European competitions in this season. To be fully precise, 10 out of 14 ABA League teams have participated in some of the major European competitions in the 2016/17 campaign!

9. Brothers coaching Mornar

This is something we have definitely not seen before. Brothers Djordjije and Mihailo Pavićević were coaching Mornar during the whole 2016/17 season. They have proved themselves as quite a tandem, as Mornar eventually finished the regular season at the 8th place on the standings.

8. The kid from Skopje

Andrej Nastovski of MZT Skopje Aerodrom will definitely always remember the 2016/17 ABA League regular season. In the 25th round match between Budućnost VOLI and MZT Skopje Aerodrom, this 16-year old kid scored his first ever points in ABA League and therefore became the youngest player to score points in this season.

7. Mornar and Karpoš Sokoli

Two teams made debut in ABA League in the 2016/17 season. Those are Mornar and Karpoš Sokoli and they have proved themselves worthy of playing in the best regional basketball league. Mornar finished the season at the 8th place, while Karpoš Sokoli ended up as the 10th placed team in the league.

6. Australian sensation

Jonah Bolden is one of the players who marked the 2016/17 regular season. In his debut season in ABA League, this Australian power forward has become the first ever foreign player to win the Top Prospect of the year award! FMP obviously made the right choice when signing Bolden last summer.

5. The 2-pointer of the season

This is the basket which eventually helped Zadar avoid the last place on the standings. In the 24th round of the season, Zadar played a big derby against Cibona in Krešimir Ćosić Arena, while the hero of the day was Maj Kovačević. He made a buzzer-beating 2-pointer and brought a huge win to the home team.

4. The black & white passion

Once again Partizan NIS was the team who attracted the most number of fans on the stands. When playing at home, Partizan NIS had an average number of 4,492 spectators in the gym, which is the highest average attendance in the 2016/17 ABA League regular season.

3. Cedevita and the record-breaking win

October 8, 2016 was the day when Cedevita made the all-time record in the regional league. In the 4th round of the 2016/17 ABA League regular season Cedevita defeated Zadar by 120:62 and that is the win with the highest margin ever recorded in the competition history.

2. Domination of Ante Žižić

We will probably have to wait for a long time for someone to repeat the performance of Ante Žižić that this player made at the game between MZT Skopje Aerodrom and Cibona. Back then in the 4th round of the 2016/17 ABA League regular season, Žižić had 37 points & 20 rebounds, while his overall index rating was 56! That is the highest index rating some player has achieved in the 2016/17 ABA League regular season.

1. Crvena zvezda break the all-time best regular season record

It is enough to write 25-1 and you will all know what it means. Crvena zvezda mts have made the new best regular season record by winning 25 games out of 26 rounds in the 2016/17 ABA League campaign. They had 20 consecutive wins in the regular season before losing their one and only match! Stunning indeed...
