Olimpija to play Basketball Champions League, Mornar in Qualifiers

Basketball Champions League has announced the names of teams, that will participate in the 2017/18 season of the competition in the regular part and in the qualifiers. Amongst them there are two teams from the ABA League – Union Olimpija and Mornar.

There will be 32 teams participating next season in the Basketball Champions League, 24 of which will be directly qualified and additional eight that will earn their place through qualifying rounds.

Two ABA League teams will be amongst those that will try to reach the top – Union Olimpija, which is directly qualified to the regular season and Mornar, which will have to go through two qualifying rounds in order to reach the regular season.

The regular season teams are:

AEK, Aris, AS Monaco Basket, Banvit, Besiktas Sompo Japan, ČEZ Basketball Nymburk, Dinamo Sassari, Elan Chalon, Enisey Krasnoyarsk, EWE Baskets Oldenburg, Gaziantep, Hapoel Holon, Iberostar Tenerife, medi Bayreuth, Neptunas Klaipeda, Union Olimpija, PAOK, Sidigas Avellino, SIG Strasbourg, Stelmet Zielona Gora, Telenet Oostende, Umana Reyer Venezia, Ventspils, UCAM Murcia.

The teams that will have to earn their right to participate through qualifyers are:

Directly qualified for 3rd round (the 8 winners will qualify for the Regular Season): Basic-Fit Brussels, Juventus Utena, Movistar Estudiantes, Nanterre 92, Orlandina Basket, Pinar Karsiyaka, Rosa Radom, Telekom Baskets Bonn.

Directly qualified for 2nd round (the 8 winners will qualify for the 3rd round): Alba Fehervar, Bakken Bears, Budivelnyk, Kataja Basket, Mornar, Nizhny Novgorod, PBC Lukoil Academic, U-BT Cluj Napoca.

1st round (the 8 winners will qualify for the 2nd round): Avtodor Saratov, Benfica, Bosna Royal Sarajevo, Dinamo Tbilisi, Divina Seguros Joventut, Donar Groningen, Kalev Kramo, Kapfenberg Bulls, Karpoš Sokoli, Keravnos, Lulea, MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg, Sigal Priština, Telenet Antwerp Giants, Tsmoki Minsk, Vytautas.
