Beginning of ABA League season meets highest standards, Junior Tournaments system confirmed

Based on the report of the Director Krešimir Novosel and Sports Director Žarko Čabarkapa, the ABA League j.t.d. Presidency has, at its meeting on 26 October 2017 in Belgrade concluded, that the 2017/18 season has begun in accordance with the highest standards and that high expectations have been fulfilled.

Presidency and Management of ABA League j.t.d. have analysed the expenses of the ABA Super Cup, that took place in Bar, the ABA League 2 Qualifying Tournament, the first five rounds of ABA League and first three rounds of the ABA Legue 2 and have concluded that expenses are aligned with the confirmed budget for the 2017/18 season.

The Presidency of the ABA League and its Management have analysed all the current topics and concluded that all of the conditions that guarantee that ABA League would maintained the highest level are fulfilled, as well as that ABA League 2 has already met the expectations and made a serious impact on the development of clubs and basketball in general.

This has been confirmed also by the reports of the Commissioner for Delegating Referees Iztok Rems and the President of the Referees Commission Branko Jovanović, which have stated that high level of officiating in the ABA League has been maintained, as well as that a high level of officiating has been set for the ABA League 2. However, all the available measures should be implemented in order for the high level to be maintained in the future as well.

The Presidency and Management of the ABA League j.t.d. have confirmed all of the participants and the dates of the ABA Junior Tournaments (the players born in 1999 and younger). Ten teams will participate at the tournaments and they will be divided into two groups. The Semi-final tournaments will take place between 24 and 26 November in Belgrade and Zagreb. They will take place in a round robin system and the two best placed teams will qualify for the final tournament that will take in Laktaši. The exact dates of this tournament are still to be confirmed.

In the Group A, that will take place in Belgrade in the Basket City hall, Crvena zvezda mts, Mega Bemax, Mornar, MZT Skopje Aerodrom and Cibona will compete, while in the Group B, that will be played in Cedevita training centre, Igokea, Cedevita, Budućnost VOLI, Partizan NIS and Petrol Olimpija will compete.

In the end, the Presidency and Management of ABA League j.t.d. have concluded that a higher level of cooperation is required by the clubs and national basketball federations, for the sake of optimal development of basketball in the region. They have added that ABA League j.t.d. will make certain steps in that direction.
