Crvena zvezda mts appoint Dragan Šakota as new head coach

The 67-year old expert returns among the red & whites!

Crvena zvezda mts announced that they have appointed Dragan Šakota as the new first team head coach! Šakota therefore returns to the Belgrade giant after 12 years, as he was coaching the red & whites from 2005 to 2007, winning the 2006 Serbian National Cup along the way.

During his long and successful coaching career, Dragan Šakota has worked in some well-known foreign teams such are AEK Athens, Olympiacos Piraeus and Fortitudo Bologna, while he was the head coach of Serbia & Montenegro national team at the 2006 FIBA World Cup.

In the 2017/18 season, Šakota led AEK Athens toward winning the 2018 Greek National Cup and 2018 FIBA Champions League. He then left the position of head coach and became the General Manager at AEK Athens.

Dragan Šakota novi trener Crvene zvezde mts

Iskusni 67-godišnji trener, vodiće prvi tim KK Crvena zvezda mts u nastavku sezone, nakon dogovora koji je postigao sa upravom kluba, čime se vraća među crveno-bele sa kojim je 2006.godine osvojio Kup Radivoja Koraća, finale nacionalnog prvenstva i četvrtfinale ULEB kupa.

Dragan Šakota je tokom svoje bogate trenerske karijere osvajao brojne trofeje: prvenstvo i nacionalni kup Grčke, Kup Evrope, FIBA Ligu Šampiona sa ekipom AEK-a prošle sezone, nacionalni kup sa Crvenom zvezdom, kup Jugoslavije sa ekipom IMT-a u kojoj je i napravio prve trenerske korake.

Vodio je između ostalog ekipe AEK-a, Olimpijakosa, Fortituda iz Bolonje, PAOK-a, Iraklisa, bio je pomoćnik selektora Dušana Ivkovića i Željka Obradovića, a kasnije i prvi selektor podmlađene reprezentacije SCG koja je nastupala na SP u Japanu 2006. godine.
