MVP of January: Justin Cobbs (Budućnost VOLI)

Justin Cobbs has proven, throughout the month of January, his dominance at the ABA League courts wherever he has appeared and besides the fact that he finished the month amongst statistically the most efficient players, he deserved himself the award with his contribution to the team's success – Budućnost VOLI have won 3 of their 4 games in January and are just a win behind the leading squad of the ABA League at the moment – Partizan NIS.

The excellent point guard in the ranks of the Podgorica squad averaged 20 points, 3.3 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.5 steals and a valuation of 25.3 during the games of Budućnost VOLI, which puts him on the first place in the rankings in valuation in the ABA League during the month of January.

What is the secred behind his success? “Just the help of my teammates is giving me confidence and putting me in great position to be successful. Without them I couldn’t do anything,” Cobbs claims.

Budućnost VOLI have been on great streak recently and currently they are occupying the top of the ABA League standings. Is this their desired level of basketball? Cobbs believes so: “Of course, this is the basketball we envisioned ourselves playing. We work hard every day in practices and everything is finally coming into the right place. The team is in a great shape both physically and mentally.”

This is Cobbs’ second season in the ABA League and he still believes that the basketball played in what is often considered as the cradle of European basketball is specific, being compared to the other competitions: “I have always said this basketball in this league is way different than any other.” He believes that every game in the ABA League is a real struggle: “It is a lot more physical and every time from top to bottom is every competitive.”

Budućnost VOLI still have only one goal on their mind, when we are speaking about this season – win the trophy again: “I believe we can def accomplish the goal. That was the goal at the start of the season and is also our goal now. Perfect the team is timing to play great basketball at the right time. February, March and April is when it matters.”
