EUROCUP: First defeats for Budućnost and Olimpija
Unfortunately, both Budućnost VOLI and Union Olimpija suffered defeats this week in Eurocup.
Not a very good day for ABA League clubs in Eurocup. Both Budućnost VOLI and Union Olimpija returned home empty-handed.
Budućnost VOLI were in Thessaloniki where they faced Aris... Without success, though. The winner was practically decided in the first quarter which Greek side won by 25:12. Budućnost VOLI were unable to get back into this game mostly because they could not find a solution to stop three Americans from the other side. White, Hagins and McNeal were fantastic and they led Aris to a convincing win this evening.
A very similar game was played in France where Union Olimpija got defeated by JSF Nanterre. Once again the first quarter decided many things. In the opening 10 minutes Nanterre made 28 points, Union Olimpija 15... Team from Ljubljana tried to answer back and they reduced the margin to 49:42 until the halftime, but that was all. Home side increased the pace in the second half and seized a win.
