Union Olimpija knocked down mighty Maccabi

Former Crvena zvezda Telekom point guard Gal Mekel had a great game in Stožice for Maccabi FOX against Union Olimpija, but he was not enough to prevent the defeat against fantastic Dragons in Ljubljana!

Union Olimpija have grabbed their first Eurocup game of the season and they did it against 2012 ABA League champions Maccabi FOX from Tel Aviv in a game, where they were a better opponent throughout 40 minutes.

The Dragons were in front by 7 points already at half time and despite the fact that the guests from Israel managed to threaten their lead late in the game, they have succeeded in preventing the comeback by the guests. The final score was 73:66 in favour of the green and white.

Sava Lešić was the top scorer with 16 points, while Ronalds Zakis added 13. The player that for sure deserved himself the honorable mention was young Blaž Mesiček, who was Olimpija"s most successful player in terms of the result, since his team created the advantage of 19 points in 24 minutes, that he spent on court.
