Tough Euroleague night for ABA clubs

Cedevita and Crvena zvezda Telekom suffered defeats in the 6th round of the Euroleague TOP 16 stage.

It was definitely not a good Euroleague night for ABA clubs. It has all started from Zagreb where Cedevita simply did not have a chance against Panathinaikos. The Greek side played perhaps their best game in the entire season and scored a convincing win in Dražen Petrović Hall.

The game was close only in the first quarter which PAO won by 18:13. Everything after that was a one-sided clash. The Greens have escaped to 39:22 until the halftime, while the margin kept growing and growing… Cedevita just had to admit to their rivals that they were a lot better this time.

It was much more exciting in Istanbul. Unfortunately, with the same outcome. Crvena zvezda Telekom and Darussafaka were having a tough battle during all 40 minutes, while at the end one single shot decided the winner. On 1 minute until the end of the game, Ender Arslan scored a three-pointer for 69:66, after two offensive rebounds of his teammates. Before that, Maik Zirbes missed two free-throws on the other end.

Crvena zvezda Telekom had a chance to take this game into overtime. But, Branko Lazić and Stefan Jović missed their 3pts shots.

Crvena zvezda Telekom played this game with a black band on their jerseys to honor one of the club founders Srđan Kalember, who died at the age of 88.
