Game recap: It was the probably the toughest clash in the entire final series, but the outcome was the same like in the previous two games. Crvena zvezda Telekom outplayed Mega Leks once again and clinched the precious ABA League trophy!
Zvezda have escaped to a double-digit margin quite early, mostly thanks to Quincy Miller who scored 10 points just in the first quarter. However, Mega Leks refused to surrender that easily and they managed to reduce the margin until the halftime. With some really good roles of Rade Zagorac and Nikola Ivanović the home side approached to 34:37 before the big break.
The Belgrade crew have doubled their lead until the last quarter - 40:46 - while then Marko Simonović made two crucial plays... He firstly made a stunning block, while after that he scored a three-pointer from the corner - 40:49. That brough the right momentum for the red and whites. Especially in defense. Eventually, the final touch to this final series was made by Crvena zvezda Telekom captain Luka Mitrović. He scored a two-pointer for 47:57… It was over.
Zvezda are the best team in the region for the second year in a row.
Key moments: There was actually a key element in this game and it was - defense! Crvena zvezda Telekom have locked down their basket in the second half as they conceded only 6 points in the third quarter and 9 more in the fourth period!!! They were aggressive, focused and always in the right place at the right time. At the end, that stunning defense has brought them the championship trophy.
Man of the match: Quincy Miller. We have already mentioned his amazing performance in the first quarter, while at the end he was the top scorer in his team with 18 points and he also had the highest index rating - 19.
Can"t trick the stats: With their outstanding defense Crvena zvezda Telekom made 14 steals in Game 3!!! At the same time, they forced Mega Leks players to make 26 turnovers…
