The first signing of Partizan NIS - Stefan Birčević

Just a few days after they completed the 2015/16 season, Partizan NIS made their first signing. The black and whites agreed all terms with Stefan Birčević, who signed a two-year deal with the club.

"When I was a kid I decided to leave handball and to start playing basketball just because of Partizan, because I watched all those Euroleague games and enjoyed in that fantastic atmosphere. My desire to play in front of that crowd was the reason to start playing basketball. It is a great honor that coach Aleksandar Džikić invited me to work with him. I think that I came here in my best age, with 26 years, when can introduce myself to our fans in the best possible way," said Birčević.

Birčević started his career in Metalac Farmakom (2007-2011), then he spent three years in Radnički Kragujevac (2011-2014), while he played the last two seasons in Spain for Estudiantes. He was averaging 5,8 points and 3,3 rebounds per game in the previous season.

Birčević plays as a power forward, while he was a member of the Serbian national team which won the silver medal at the FIBA World Cup 2014.

Birčević prvo pojačanje Partizana NIS

Nekoliko dana po završetku takmičarske sezone 2015/16, KK Partizan NIS je doveo i prvo pojačanje za narednu sezonu. Potpis na dvogodišnji ugovor sa crno-belima stavio je Stefan Birčević, povremeni reprezentativac Srbije i osvajač srebnog odlličja na Svetskom prvenstvu u španiji 2014. godine.

Odmah po potpisivanju ugovora, Stefan Birčević je izjavio:

„Još kao klinac kada sam se sa rukometa prebacio na košarku, govorio sam da sam to uradio zato što sam gledao Partizan na mečevima Evrolige u Pioniru i navijače koji ga fantastično bodre. Želja da se nađem u tom ambijentu i toj atmosferi bila je razlog da počnem da treniram. Velika mi je čast što me je trener Džikić pozvao da radim sa njim. Mislim da sam došao u pravom trenutku, sa 26 godina, kada sam naspremniji i kada mogu da se u najboljem svetlu predstavim i klubu i navijačima," - zaključio je Birčević.

Bivši košarkaš Estudijantesa, kragujevačkog Radničkog i Metalca, crno-belu opremu će zadužiti na početku priprema za narednu sezonu. U španskoj ACB ligi, novi košarkaš Partizana je prošle sezone imao učinak od 5,8 poena i 3,3 skoka po meču.
