Željko Šakić signed with Cibona

Željko, who began playing basketball in the ranks of Cibona, has played for all of the youth categories of the club, but the next one will be his first in its senior squad.
After ending his junior career Željko played for several teams from Zagreb (Rudeš, Kaptol, Dubrava) and later continued his basketball path in the BiH with Zrinjski and široki, Italy with Sutor Montegranaro, before heading to Spain to join ACB League team Manresa, where he proved his undisputed talent.
His good games in Spain did not pass by unnoticed and he received a call from national team head coach Velimir Perasović. He spent last season with Bulgarian Lukoil Academic and currently he is in a training camp of Croatia senior national team, where he is preparing for an appearance at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.

Željko šakić, 204 cm visoki krilni centar novi je član Cibone, saopštio je klub iz Zagreba.
Željko, inače dijete Cibone, je igrao za sve mlađe uzrasne kategorije kluba, ali ovo će mu biti prva sezona u seniorskoj momčadi.
Po završetku omladinskog staža Željko je igrao u nekoliko zagrebačkih klubova (Rudeš, Kaptol, Dubrava) da bi potom karijeru nastavio u BIH (Zrinjski i široki), Italiji (Sutor Montegranaro). Nakon toga odlazi u vrlo jaku španjolsku ACB ligu u Maresu gdje je dokazao sav svoj talent.
Njegove igre te sezone nisu ostale neopažen te dobiva poziv u reprezentaciju tadašnjeg izbornika Velimira Perasovića. Prošlu sezonu je proveo u bugarskom Lukoil Academicu, a trenutno se nalazi na pripremama s reprezentacijom koja se priprema za kvalifikacijski turnir za Olimpijske igre u Rio de Janeiru.
