If someone complains about a busy summer, than he/she should take a look at Union Olimpija and think again. Because the Dragons had to start building the team for the 2016/17 season practically from nothing.
Union Olimpija had only couple of players from the previous season, including Blaž Mesiček and Gregor Horvat, so they needed to be very, very active on the transfer market. Therefore, the green and white crew signed no less than 11 new players this summer!
Some of the names which landed in Ljubljana are - former Mega Leks player Nikola Janković, experienced center Stevan Milošević, ex Krka shooting guard Mirko Mulalić, two American players Brandon Jefferson and Devin Oliver...
Also, the club got new head coach. Gašper Okorn has returned to Union Olimpija after almost 10 years and he will lead the team in the 2016/17 season.
It is really difficult to tell what to expect from this team in the upcoming ABA League campaign, especially because of so many changes. Still, Union Olimpija has always been a regional basketball powerhouse and no one will be able to count on easy win in the clash against the Dragons.
