Preseason: Wins for Cibona, FMP and Union Olimpija

Cibona, FMP and Union Olimpija scored new wins in the preseason period after beating Krka, Igokea and UBSC Graz, respectively. Mega Leks were defeated by Antwerp Giants.

Mega Leks were defeated by Antwerp Giants in their 11th preparation game ahead of new season. Even though the Sremska Mitrovica side started off better on the court of Vizura Hall in Zemun and took a 3-point lead after 10 minutes, they could not end the game with a plus on their side. By half time, the Belgians went in front by 8 points and only confirmed their advantage in the second half. The final score was 82:73 for the Antwerp side and Radosav Spasojević was the top scorer of Mega Leks with 19 points, while Ognjen Jaramaz followed him with 16.

Union Olimpija rolled over UBSC Graz on the road in Austria and the final margin was no less than 49 points. The Dragons did the majority of the job in the opening quarter, in which they have prevailed by 20 points and afterwards just kept increasing the margin. The final score was 90:41 with Jure Pelko leading the way in scoring for Union Olimpija. Nikola Janković added 14 points for his team’s success.

In the ABA League clash, FMP were stronger than Igokea on the road in Laktaši, thanks to their 18:8 run in the final quarter, which led them to the close win with the final score of 74:70 in the end. Filip Čović was the top scorer for the winning side with 20 points, while Stefan Lazarević added 11. On the side of Igokea, Danilo Šibalić led the way in scoring with 18 points and Brandon Fortenberry had 17.

In another battle of two ABA League teams, Cibona were better than Krka in Novo mesto with the final score of 70:58. More to follow…
