BCL: Defeats for Mornar and Partizan NIS

In the second round of the Basketball Champions League, Mornar and Partizan NIS suffered their first European defeats this season. Mornar lost to Iberostar Tenerife and Partizan NIS lost to Besiktas, both on the road. Previously, Mega Leks overpowered Cibona.

Mornar had no chance against Iberostar Tenerife on the road in Canary Islands, as they were behind by 22 already after the first quarter of the game. Things got worse in the second half, as the home side, that were better than Cibona in the first round and that share the second spot in Spanish Endesa League with only one defeat suffered this season so far, went ahead by 46 points, which was the final margin (103:57). Lamont Jones was the top scorer of Mornar with 15 points. Antabia Waller added 12.

The black and white of Belgrade lost to black and white of Istanbul, for what was the first defeat this season for Partizan NIS. Besiktas made the crucial difference in the third quarter, when they went away on the 16 points of advantage. Just as many points of surplus they had at the end when the final score was 77:62 in favour of the home side. Stefan Birčević was the top scorer of Partizan NIS, while his teammate William Hatcher had 13.

A day before, Mega Leks and Cibona played a very exciting game in Sremska Mitrovica in Group D, with the hosts coming out victorious at the end...
