EC: Cedevita advances to next round from second place

In the 10th round of the EuroCup regular season, Cedevita celebrated a win, while Budućnost VOLI and MZT Skopje Aerodrom were defeated. Cedevita will face Valencia, Alba Berlin and Unicaja in the Top 16.

Cedevita have ended the regular season of EuroCup in Group A with a win, which represents their sixth win in eight games. They did it on the road in Russia against Nizhny Novgorod and the triumph puts them on the final second place in Group A, behind Gran Canaria. The Zagreb ABA League side made the crucial difference right at the start, as they have led by 13 points as early as eighth minute. They continued strongly and caught their highest lead in 31st minute, when they led by 16 points (70:54). The hosts managed to make the game interesting before its ending, but Cedevita still prevailed with the final score of 84:82. Marko Tomas and Miro Bilan were the top scorers of Veljko Mršić's squad, with 20 and 19 points scored, respectively.

In the next stage of EuroCup – the Top 16 – Cedevita will compete in Group H alongside Valencia, Alba Berlin and Unicaja.

In Group C, Budućnost VOLI sufferred their eighth defeat of the season in EuroCup, on the road in Munich against the second placed team of the group, Bayern. The Germans created the margin during the second and third periods and entered the final quarter with a 14-point lead which was easy to protect for them in the end. The final score was 80:66 for the hosts. J.R Reynolds led the way in scoring for Budućnost VOLI. Suad Šehović added 10.

On the road in Las Palmas, MZT Skopje Aerodrom were defeated by Gran Canaria with the final score of 87:75. The hosts turned the game in their favour decisively in the third quarter, which they won by 8 points and entered the last quarter with 14-point lead on their behalf. The rest was only a formality. Jure Lalić was the most efficient fort he Skopje side with 15 points while he was followed by Đorđe Drenovac, who had 13.
