In the fourteenth round of the ABA League season, Partizan NIS are about to host Mornar in Aleksandar Nikolić Hall and will try to score their fifth win of the season. However, Mornar’s plan is different – they wish to build on their last round’s win over MZT Skopje Aerodrom.
ABA League 14th round, Sunday, 18.12.2016:
Where? Aleksandar Nikolić Hall, Belgrade
When? 12:30
Story of the game: In Aleksandar Nikolić Hall of Belgrade, the black and white squad led by Aleksandar Džikić from the bench, will host Mornar and give their best in order to grab another victory, which would extend their unbeaten run in the regional competition to five games. In addition, their hopes are even higher, since they have outgunned Besiktas of Istanbul during the week in Basketball Champions League.
On the other side, the plans of the guests are somewhat different this time, as they wish to score a win in order to upgrade their last round’s success, when they have beaten MZT Skopje Aerodrom at home in Topolica Sports Hall.
Also, a victory for Đorđije Pavićević’s squad would represent a revenge for the defeat in the first encounter of these two teams this season, when Partizan were better by only a point (58:57) in Bar.
While Partizan’s coaching staff will not be able to count on services of their injured center Đorđe Majstorović and perhaps even Novica Veličković and Branislav Ratkovica, which are questionable to appear, there are no injury problems at Mornar whatsoever at the moment.
Match-up in focus: Every true basketball fan of the region is currently hoping for Novica Veličković to play when Sunday comes. Why? Because it will be an epic battle in the paint between him and Octavius Ellis of Mornar! Both players have been shining lately in the ABA League and also in the European competitions, where Novica Veličković also became the MVP of the last round of Basketball Champions League! Can Ellis stop him with his brutal blocks and athleticism? Wait and find out!
Head to head in the regional league: In total 1:0; In Belgrade 0:0.
