ANGT: Cedevita beat Panathinaikos, Olimpija lose all chances to reach semis

Cedevita made a flying start at the L’Hospitalet EuroLeague Adidas Next Generation Tournament as they defeated Panathinaikos in the opening round! At the same time, Olimpija Ljubljana suffered two defeats and lost all chances to reach the semifinals.

The first out of four EuroLeague Adidas Next Generation Qualifying Tournaments has started in L'Hospitalet (Spain), with two ABA League teams trying to win the precious ticket for the Finals in Istanbul.

And it has all started perfectly for Cedevita who defeated Panathinaikos Athens in the 1st round of the Group Stage! The boys from Zagreb were amazing in the 3rd quarter which they won by 25:8 and escaped to a safe distance.

The top scorer in the winning side was Antonio Jordano with 22 points, Toni Nakić added 16, while Darko Bajo finished the match with 12 points.

Unfortunately, Olimpija Ljubljana opened the tournament with two defeats. Young Dragons firstly got defeated by the reigning European champions Barcelona, while then they lost the match against Gran Canaria. Therefore, Olimpija Ljubljana lost all chances to reach the semifinals and to win the ticket for the ANGT Finals in Istanbul.

The top 2 teams from each group will advance to the semifinals, while the winner of the tournament will qualify for the ANGT Finals which will be held during the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four in Istanbul, Turkey from May 18 to 21, 2017.
