In Zagreb, the two teams with the longest ABA League tradition will fight one against another – Cibona host Union Olimpija in the 19th round of the season.

ABA League 19th round, Saturday, 21.1.2017:

CIBONA UNION OLIMPIJA

Where? Dražen Petrović Arena, Zagreb

When? 21:00

Story of the game: A clash of ABA League giants is coming up in the Dražen Petrović Arena in Zagreb, as Cibona will host Union Olimpija in the battle of the only two teams that have been members of regional competition in every single season.

When the two sides met for the first time this season Cibona won convincingly, with the score of 89:72. They desperately need to repeat this scenario in order to keep themselves in the race for one of the spots in the Playoffs, as they are currently the fifth placed team of the ABA League with two wins less (11) than fourth-placed Budućnost VOLI.

On the other side, Olimpija seek revenge, now that Cibona has lost their starting center and wish to win in order to protect their position in the upper half of the standings. The Dragons currently hold the seventh spot with three triumphs won less than Cibosi.

Match-up in focus: Nikola Janković has been dominating the courts wherever he had appeared this season in the ABA League and this time he will have a proper match again at the other end – it will be former Croatia national team big man Luka Žorić who will have a chance to prove whether he has fit into the team properly already – against a strong rival.

Head to head in regional league: In total 19:14; In Zagreb 12:5.
