INTERVIEW: Šehović – “Tradition does not mean anything in Playoffs”

We have spoken with one of the key members of Budućnost Sead Šehović. Find out what he told us in the interview below.

Budućnost VOLI has achieved a huge victory against Crvena zvezda mts in the second game of the semi-final series and remained in the race for the Finals. How did you see the previous game?

“It is an extremely important victory for us. It has given us lots of self-confidence given that Zvezda have celebrated in the previous three games. Of course, we have also extended the series and relocated them back to Belgrade, where we will do everything in our power in order to perform an upset.”

Your team has managed to limit Crvena zvezda mts to only 57 points scored. Is the defense the key to the celebration at the end of the series?

“Defense is not only the key during this series, it is the fundament of a successful game of every good team. Self-confidence derives from defense, since when you do not have a great shooting night, just like we did not during the last game, you can rely on the defense and win the game even though you weren’t in the right mood. We will try hard to play even better on defense and also on offense, since we can threaten Zvezda only that way when playing on their home court.”

Ahead of you is the decisive game in Belgrade, where Budućnost VOLI don’t have a good score with Crvena zvezda mts. How will you face this negative tradition?

“Zvezda have beaten many great names in Belgrade this season, such as CSKA and Real Madrid. They play very well in front of their own crowd. They have huge support from the stands. I would not place much emphasis on the tradition, since every game is a brand new story. Especially when speaking of Playoffs and when the place in the finals is at stake.”

The whole season fits into this one game basically. How to cope with pressure ahead of the key game of the Semi-finals?

“For sure there is pressure. However, we are all professionals that are able to cope with it. We are aware of the fact that Zvezda are favourites, all the way from the start of the season and until now and they have confirmed it with their games during the season. Our task is to play as well as we can, as we did in Podgorica, and see who would celebrate in the end. I hope we do.”

Ulazimo u najbitniji dio sezone u ABA ligi – bliže se majstorice polufinalnih serija i Budućnost VOLI, nakon iznenađenja i pobjede protiv Crvene zvezde mts u Morači, traži još jedan uspjeh protiv crveno-belih, za plasman u finale ABA lige ove sezone.

O predstojećem meču pričali smo sa jednim od ključnih igrača Budućnosti VOLI Seadom Šehovićem. Pročitajte intervju u donjim redovima.

Budućnost VOLI je ostvarila veliku pobjedu protiv Crvene zvezde mts u drugoj utakmici polufinalne serije i tako ostala u trci za finale. Kako ste vi vidjeli prethodni meč?

„Veoma značajna pobjeda za nas. Ulila nam je samopouzdanje s obzirom na to da je Zvezda slavila u prethodna tri meča. Naravno, produžili smo seriju i preselili je u Beograd gdje ćemo sve dati od sebe da napravimo iznenađenje.“

Vaš tim je uspeo da zaustavi Crvenu zvezdu mts na samo 57 postignutih poena. Da li je odbrana ključ uspjeha u ovoj seriji?

„Odbrana nije samo ključ u ovoj seriji, odbrana je osnov dobre igre svakog ozbiljnog tima. Iz odbrane kreće samopouzdanje, jer kad nemate šutersku noć, što je bio slučaj u prethodnom meču, možete da se oslonite na odbranu i dobijete utakmicu iako nijeste bili napadački raspoloženi. Potrudićemo se da odigramo još bolje i u odbrani i u napadu jer Zvezdu kod kuće samo na taj način možemo da ugrozimo.“

Pred vama je odlučujuća utakmica u Beogradu, gdje Budućnost VOLI nema dobar skor sa Crvenom zvezdom mts. Kako se izboriti sa tom neugodnom tradicijom?

„Zvezda je u Beogradu ove godine savladala sva velika imena poput CSKA, Reala. Pred svojom publikom igraju jako dobro. Imaju veliku podršku navijača. Ne bih se oslanjao na tradiciju, svaka utakmica je priča za sebe. Posebno kad je plej-of u pitanju i kad je ulog finale ABA lige.“

Cela sezona zapravo staje u ovaj jedan meč. Kako se izboriti sa pritiskom pred treću utakmicu polufinala?

„Sigurno da postoji pritisak. Međutim svi smo mi profesionalci koji znaju kako se nositi sa tim. Svjesni smo da je Zvezda favorit, kako sada tako i od početka lige, a to su dokazali igrama u regularnom dijelu. Na nama je da odigramo što bolje, damo sve od sebe kao što je to bio slučaj u Podgorici, pa ćemo vidjeti na kraju ko će da se raduje. Nadam se mi.“
