INTERVIEW: Dangubić - "To defend home court"

Crvena zvezda mts player Nemanja Dangubić stated for the ABA League website that it is very important for his team to win the opening two games of the clash against Cedevita.

Crvena zvezda mts are in front of the ABA League Finals, the most important event of the whole season. How do you look on the upcoming games against Cedevita?

"By beating Partizan NIS in the semi-finals, Cedevita showed that they deserve to play in the finals. They are indeed a high quality team. We have already played twice against them in this season and defeated them both times, however those games mean nothing when it comes to the finals. We will give our best to firstly defend the home court in the opening two games and then to take one away win and to claim the trophy."

You played for Crvena zvezda mts last year when your team faced Cedevita in the ABA League Semi-Finals. Do you remember that duel?

"Yes, I remember it well. The first match in Belgrade was especially tough, but luckily we managed to win it and to progress to the finals later on. There is no doubt that both teams will do everything they can to win the trophy, especially because the ABA League champion will play in the Euroleague in the next season. That is why I expect quite a battle, so we have to be completely focused during the entire series."

What might be the advantages of Crvena zvezda mts in this clash?

"Perhaps our advantage is that we have more players in rotation. But, in any case we have to follow our game plan and to make them play in our rhythm. In short, we need to play with a lot of energy, to have control over our offense and to be good defensively."

How much will the home court advantage be significant in the finals?

"When we were beginning this season we talked a lot about how the home court advantage would be important in the Playoffs. That is why we tried so hard to finish the regular season at the first place. We know very well how hard it is to beat any team for several times in row. That's why we need to defend the home court in the opening two games, so we can travel to Zagreb without pressure."

Pred Crvenom zvezdom mts je finale ABA lige, kruna cele sezone. Kako gledate na predstojeće duele sa Cedevitom?

"Cedevita je pobedom nad Partizanom pokazala da zaslužuje da igra u finalu. Radi se o zaista kvalitetnoj ekipi. Mi smo već dva puta igrali protiv njih u ovoj sezoni i oba puta pobedili, ali te utakmice ne znače praktično ništa kada se dodje do finala. Daćemo sve od sebe da prvenstveno odbranimo domaći teren u prve dve utakmice, a da onda tamo uzmemo jednu pobedu i odbranimo trofej."

Vi ste igrali za Crvenu zvezdu i prošle sezone kada je vaš tim u polufinalu eliminisao Cedevitu posle velike borbe. Da li se sećate te serije?

"Da, dobro se sećam te prošlogodišnje polufinalne serije. Prvi meč u Beogradu je bio posebno neizvestan, ali smo srećom uspeli da pobedimo i kasnije da udjemo u finale. Nema dileme da će obe ekipe dati sve od sebe da osvoje trofej, posebno jer prvo mesto vodi u Evroligu. Zato očekujem veliku brobu, a mi moramo da budemo potpuno koncentrisani tokom čitave serije."

Gde vidite prednosti Crvene zvezde mts u odnosu na Cedevitu?

"Možda je naša prednost to što imamo više igrača u rotaciji. Ali, u svakom slučaju moramo da ispunimo sve taktičke zamisli trenera, da igramo koncentrisano i da nametnemo naš stil igre. Dakle, sa mnogo energije, kontrolisano u napadu i jako u odbrani."

Koliko će prednost domaćeg terena biti značajna u finalnoj seriji?

"Kada smo počinjali sezonu pričali smo koliko je prednost domaćeg terena bitna u plej-ofu i zato smo se toliko trudili da završnimo sezonu na prvom mestu. Vrlo dobro znamo koliko je teško neku ekipu pobediti nekoliko puta zaredom. Zato je veoma važno odbraniti prednost domaćeg terena u prve dve utakmice, kako bismo mirniji putovali u Zagreb."
