Croatia down Hungary, Serbia prevail over Latvia, heavy defeat for Montenegro

Croatia and Serbia scored important wins, while Montenegro suffered defeated against the tournament main favorite in the opening round of 2017 FIBA EuroBasket

They say that the first round of any competition has huge importance for every team and that it can affect your whole performance at the tournament. Croatia and Serbia have passed that test with the highest possible score.

Croatia defeated Hungary in the opening round of 2017 FIBA EuroBasket - 67:58. Croatia's defense worked perfectly this time, while the team main stars were in charge of scoring points. Bojan Bogdanović made 23 points for the winning side, while Dario Šarić added 15.

In the second round of the group stage Croatia will play against Romania on September 2.

Serbia had a tough challenge against Latvia, but the boys coached by Aleksandar Djordjević prevailed at the end – 92:82. It is interesting to mention that Serbia head coach used all of his 12 players in today’s game, while some of them made a pretty impressive performance.

Bogdan Bogdanović scored 30 points, while team captain Milan Mačvan completed a double-double achievement with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Serbia will play against Russia on September 2 in the second round of the 2017 FIBA EuroBasket group stage.

Unfortunately, Montenegro suffered a pretty heavy defeat against Spain – 60:99. Still, it must be said that Spain is the main favorite at the tournament and today they showed all of their power in the clash against Montenegro.

In the second round of the 2017 FIBA EuroBasket group stage, Montenegro will play against Hungary on September 2.
