In the Stožice Arena, the Petrol Olimpija team gathered for the first time this summer, and started with the preparation period for the new season. At the first practice, only Luka Samanic was missing, as he will join the team this week. Šamanić was at the European Championship for boys U18, as he played for the Croatian national team, which finished with the championship on Sunday.
Next to the newcomers, Marvin Jones, Jalek Felton, Marko Simonović, Miha Lapornik and Jan Rebec, at the first practice, there were also players, that won the national championship last season – Erjon Kastrati, Bojan Radulović, Igor Tratnik, Jan Špan, Dražen Bubnić, Mirza Begić, Roko Badžim and Issuf Sanon. Jan Barbarič is still in the rehabilitation process after the surgery to his knee, and he will join the practices in the end of the 2018.
Almost new, is also the coaching staff. Next to the head coach Zoran Martić, Stipe Modrić and Gregor Hafnar, two former Dragons, will be at the head of the team. With their basketball experience, Modrić and Hafnar will be a great help for Martić when we talk about the individual work with players.
Team will stay in Ljubljana until August 15, when they will travel to Rogla. At the edge of Pohorje, the team will stay for ten days, and then return to Ljubljana, where it will continue with the training process.
Zoran Martić, head coach of Petrol Olimpija:
“Players came to the training camp in different conditions. Some of them were already a bit tired as they were working hard and preparing for the season, and some of them were a bit out of shape, as they took the summer to really rest their body after a long season. In the first days, we will focus on finding out the shape that the players are in, as we will try to adjust the training camp, and try to make it harder for them, day by day. This first week will be a good preparation period for the training camp in Rogla, which we will done in the second half of the August.”

Na obrobju Pohorja bo moštvo ostalo deset dni, sledila bo vrnitev v Ljubljano in nadaljevanje s trenažnim procesom v slovenski prestolnici.
