Since winning the league back in 2014, Cibona haven’t been even close of qualifying to the ABA Playoffs. And, after 4 disappointing seasons, the Wolves have obviously decided to make a fresh start.
Cibona management were quite busy over the summer. Firstly, they appointed Ivan Velić as new head coach, while then they started rebuilding the team roster. It is important to mention that Cibona have stayed without some of the best players from the last season, including the 2017/18 ABA regular season season MVP Luka Žorić, but some new guys are now in Zagreb, waiting for their chance to shine.
Nik Slavica has returned to Cibona in this transfer window, while the club also signed former Mornar player Brandis Raley-Ross, then Filip Kraljević, Marko Ljubičić and Igor Marić. Contracts were extended with Josip Bilinovac and Dominic Gilbert, team captain Marin Rozić is still in the team, as well as Ivan Novačić and three very talented players – Karlo Uljarević, Krešimir Ljubičić and Josip Popić.
It is hard to say what this team can achieve in the following season and whether this is their final roster. But, Cibona is a club with great tradition and they have always played an important role in regional basketball. Therefore, we have no doubt that the Wolves will be a tough nut to crack down on the court.
