2019 WC Qualifiers: Victories for Croatia and Montenegro

On the third gameday of the second round of the 2019 World Cup Qualifiers, Croatia and Montenegro have grabbed new triumphs against Hungary and Latvia, respectively, while Slovenia have been defeated to Ukraine.

In Group I, Montenegro have scored a huge win on the road in Latvia, as they have beaten their opponents with the score of 84:75, which keeps them in the race for the upper half of the group standings. Montenegro made the key difference in the last quarter, which they have won by 9 points (23:14) and won with the final score of 84:75. For the winners, Bojan Dubljević had 22 points and Derek Needham 19.

Croatia have scored important win at home against Hungary, which puts them in the upper half of the standings in Group J! Croatia have made the crucial difference in the first and third quarters, when they went up by 13 points combined. On the other side, Hungary fought back in the final quarter, but it was too little, too late. Croatia won 74:69. For the winning side, Miro Bilan had 22 points and Cedevita player Domagoj Bošnjak 17.

Slovenia have suffered a defeat on the road far away from home in Ukraine in a game where the hosts were the better of the two sides all game long. In the end, Ukraine celebrated an 82:54 win. For Slovenia Gregor Hrovat topped the scorers’ list with 13 points, while Petrol Olimpija member Blaž Mesiček followed him with 12. For Ukraine, Petrol Olimpija player Issuf Sanon was also the second best in scoring with 11 points.
