Christmas present for Novo mesto fans – Krka beat Budućnost
In the last game of the 12th round of the ABA League season, the last placed team in the standings Krka have beaten the reigning champions Budućnost VOLI at home in Leon Štukelj Sports Hall, Novo mesto.

Game recap: What a game in Novo mesto! Krka, currently the last placed team in the standings and the newcomers in the ABA League, have beaten the reigning champions Budućnost VOLI after a thunderous beginning of the game. For Krka, this is the 4th win of the season, which still puts them in the last place in the standings, but with equal number of points as four more teams. On the other hand, Budućnost VOLI continue the season with eight triumphs, which makes them third placed team in the ABA League standings.
Key moments: Krka have been on fire since the very beginning of the clash and have gone up by 13 points already in the first quarter, when they have limited the opponents to only 5 points, while scoring 18. By halftime, their advantage has risen to 15 points (34:19) and this was the crucial part of the game, having in mind their later win.
Budućnost VOLI tried hard to make a comeback in the second half, but they just failed to find a way to turn the game around.
Man of the match: Luka Lapornik shined in the second half of the game against Budućnost VOLI, after he did not score a single point in the first half and contributed the most to the victory of his team when it mattered the most. In the end he had 12 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks and a valuation of 13. He is our man of the match.
Can’t trick the stats: Krka have simply shown more of fighting spirit than their opponents and have outrebounded Budućnost VOLI 35:30. This was decisive in the end.
