Game recap: After losing the previous 3 games in the regular season, Mega Bemax boys have bounced back by winning a true basketball thriller against Mornar. Despite playing without two very important players such Adam Mokoka & Andrija Marjanović certainly are, the squad from Sremska Mitrovica managed to return from a 15-point deficit and to seize a very valuable win which keeps them in the Playoffs race.
Key moments: Mornar were up by 58:43, with 2 minutes left to be played in the 3rd quarter, while then Mega Bemax made a 10:0 run, which was completed with a stunning half-court 3-pointer which Luka Ašćerić made at the 3rd quarter buzzer. In the last quarter, the home side kept pushing and went up by 5 points with 40 seconds left on the game clock. But, that was not the end of this dramatic match. Mega Bemax players started missing the free-throws, so Mornar got a chance to take this match into overtime… However, Nikola Rebić, former Mega Bemax player and now the starting point guard of Mornar, missed a 2-point shot in the final seconds and the score remained 82:80 for the hosts.
Man of the match: Edin Atić (20 points, 7 rebounds) and Nikola Mišković (18 points, 7 rebounds) were leading Mega Bemax troops toward this win. However, the true hero of the home team was 18-year old Luka Cerovina who made 9 points (3 three-pointers) in his debut in ABA League! And every one of those 3-pointers came in very important moments for Mega Bemax.
Can’t trick the stats: Mornar is a team which scores many 3-pointers, but today the squad from Bar made just 4 of them… It was just not their day.
