ABA League Round 21, Saturday, 9.3.2019:

CIBONA - KRKA

Where? Dražen Petrović Arena, Zagreb

When? 21:00

Story of the game: The ABA League season goes on and so does the battle to avoid relegation from the elite regional club competition. The game between Cibona and Krka will be another one which will serve both teams in order to try and avoid the relegation zone at the bottom of the standings.

While Cibona right now seem to be safely away from the bottom with 2 wins of advantage in comparison with Krka and Petrol Olimpija, they need to beat Krka in order to triumph over their direct competitors in the battle to avoid relegation and to secure themselves a calm last round of the season.

On the other side, winning is a must for Krka, which are currently the very last placed in the standings and only a victory would help them to relax a bit before the decisive last round encounter against Petrol Olimpija in the great local derby.

Both of the two teams have won 2 out of their last 5 games in the ABA League so they seem to be equally strong at the moment, but their past games have demonstrated that home court advantage is very important to both of them. And so has the tradition – out of 11 times that the two have met in Zagreb, Cibona have prevailed 8 times!

Who will come out on top?

Match-up in focus: It’s Marko Ljubičić against Dominik Mavra! The point guards are currently leading their teams in both scoring and passing. While Ljubičić is currently averaging 12.3 points and 4.2 assists per game, Mavra is averaging 18.2 points and 5.8 assists per game in the ABA League. Mavra especially shined in his last game, as he put in 35 points against another Zagreb team – Cedevita. Can he do it again or can Ljubičić stop him? Stay tuned and find out!

Head to head in the regional league: In total 15:9; In Zagreb 8:3.
