INTERVIEW: Vuk Radivojević – “ABA League is getting stronger year by year”
Vuk Radivojević is one of the players, that have devoted their careers to the ABA League and that’s why his opinion matters a lot when you are talking about regional basketball. After he finished his career, he became Sports Director at Igokea.

We have talked with the experienced former guard and you can read about what he had to say in the lines below.
You have decided to continue working at Igokea, after you have retired from playing basketball. Why did you decide to do that?
“Igokea is a family club and that’s why I accepted the offer to continue work for this side. I like the way everything is functioning. It is a goal for us to fight for high positions and our ambitions have grown with the moment when we signed with coach Aleksandar Trifunović.”
You have had a long and rich career. What are your memories like?
“I always stress that basketball gave me lots of friendships and this is the greatest wealth, which is followed by everything else. I had 18 years of my professional career, additional eight of practicing basketball, which means that I have been in this sport for almost entire life. I have always been saying that we are like warriors, we are used of this type of life.”
As a player, that has played plenty of seasons in the ABA League, what is your opinion of the competition?
“ABA League is a competition that draws lots of attention and discussions. There have been stories that it has damaged our domestic basketball, but frankly I believe that everything would not work without the regional competition. This is reality, we have places in EuroLeague and EuroCup through ABA League. It is a great league for young players on their way to establishing their names. The league is getting stronger year by year and it will continue to be that way.”
Who will be the favourites in your opinion in the forthcoming season?
“Some experienced players are back. Mornar signed with Milko Bjelica and several other great players. Sixt Primorska is here with serious budget, they have signed great foreign players. Cedevita and Olimpija have merged and that will make them even better. Not to forget Crvena zvezda mts, Budućnost VOLI, Partizan NIS. Of course, we also have ambitions as a club to stay in the top. The league will be all but easy to play. Everyone can beat anybody. All teams are separated by a win or two. So ABA League will once again be exciting.”
