Unfortunately, Montenegro suffered its second defeat at the 2019 FIBA World Cup after losing the game against New Zealand.

This was certainly quite a painful defeat for the boys coached by Zvezdan Mitrović, especially because the things looked quite good for them at the start of the last quarter. Montenegro was up by 67:66 and it seemed that they had the momentum, however New Zealand responded by making three 3-pointers in a row for 67:75. It was the crucial run which decided the winner in this match.

Now, Montenegro will cheer for Greece in the clash against Brazil, as the victory of Greece in that match would leave the Montenegrin troops still in the race for the next stage.

2019 FIBA World Cup, Group F Round 2, Tuesday, 3.9.2019:

Montenegro - NEW ZEALAND 83:93 (26:31, 18:22, 21:13, 18:27)
Ivanović 18, Vučević 15 | C. Webster 25, Fotu 20.
