The Tigers have definitely deserved this opportunity to make a debut in the strongest regional competition.

2019/20 Koper Primorska

They have a new name, because Sixt Primorska is now called Koper Primorska, but this club is still the same when it comes to their ambitions. And those ambitions have always been the highest possible for the Tigers.

The story about Koper Primorska is indeed quite special. This team was founded just three years ago, while now they are about to make a debut in the ABA League! It was their dream from the start and everyone in the club has been working very hard to achieve it. After suffering a painful defeat in the 2017/18 ABA 2 Final, they were not even thinking about giving up. Instead they have risen to win every trophy they could win in the 2018/19 campaign! Koper Primorska have won the 2018/19 Slovenian Championship, 2019 Slovenian Cup and the 2018 Slovenian Super Cup, while the cherry on the cake was winning the 2018/19 ABA 2 championship, which has brought them the precious ticket for the ABA League 1.

And the team management wanted to reward the players who have made so many great things over the past year. That is why Koper Primorska have kept 8 players from the past season, including Marko Jagodić Kuridža, Žan Mark Šiško, Ivan Marinković, Lance Harris, Marjan Čakarun, Alen Hodžić, Luka Vončina and Alen Kosi. Of course, the mastermind of all the previous achievements is still there. Head coach Jurica Golemac has stayed in Koper to start his 3rd season with the Tigers.

So far, Koper Primorska haven’t made so many new signings. Only 4 players have arrived in Koper this summer, including Stephen Holt, Nejc Barič, Aleksandar Lazić and the 2017 EuroBasket gold medalist Žiga Dimec.

It is worth mentioning that the Tigers are still undefeated in the ongoing preseason, which means that they are already ready for their first ever appearance in ABA League.
