The World of Stats

The new ABA League season is just around the corner, with the opening game scheduled for Friday evening. What is interesting to mention is that Cibona and Olimpija are the only two teams who have participated in the every season of the regional league since its start in 2001.

Speaking about Cibona, the Zagreb giant will play the next season without Marin Rozić, who decided to end his playing career and to join the team management. Marin Rozić has played for Cibona in the last 16 ABA League seasons and during that time he has become the player with most games played, with most points scored and most rebounds made in the history of the regional competition.

In the first round of the new season, Igokea will play against Mega Soccerbet and if Igokea win that match they will achieve their 100th win in the ABA League.

Speaking about wins, Crvena zvezda mts hold the league record for the most number of wins (345). At the same time, Maccabi Tel Aviv hold the league record for the best winning percentage, as they have the overall win-loss record of 44:8 (85%). Partizan NIS have the best winning percentage out of all current active ABA League teams (71%).

We have already mentioned that former Cibona captain Marin Rozić is currently holding the 1st place on the ABA League All-Time Scorers list with 2,848 points, still Partizan NIS guard Nemanja Gordić will have a chance to take over the top spot from Rozić already in the opening round of the new season as he has so far scored 2,842 points in the ABA League. If Nemanja Gordić manages to average at least 7 points per game in the upcoming regular season, he will become the first player ever in the history of ABA League to score 3000+ points.

Let's enjoy in the new season of the best basketball league of our region.
