Story of the game: Zadar and Mornar are about to close Round 1 of the 2020/21 ABA League regular season with their Friday night clash in Krešimir Ćosić Hall.
Zadar are entering the 2020/21 ABA League season with new head coach Veljko Mršić and with several new players, including Aleksandar Bursać, Filip Paponja (Cibona), Eyassu Worku (UC Irvine), Jonathan Galloway (Bakken Bears), Darko Planinić (U-Banca Transilvania Cluj Napoca) and Justin Anthony Carter (Pallacanestro Varese). The white-and-blue team have kept some of key players from the last-season roster like Dominik Mavra, Domagoj Vuković, Martin Junaković and Dominik Gilbert, while there are several youngsters who are waiting for their chance, including Jan Palokaj, Duje Brala and Jure Planinić.
On the other side, Mornar have kept most of their last-season roster, including key players Derek Needham, Uroš Luković, Isaiah Whitehead and Jacob Pullen. The club have also compled some major transfers over the summer. The biggest name who joined the team last summer was certainly former Panathinaikos forward Kenny Gabriel, while the three other newcomers are Taylor Smith (JSF Nanterre), Aleksandar Lazić (Koper Primorska) and Marko Jeremić (FMP).
As far as their head to head score is concerned, Mornar have been much more successful in recent history as the boys from Bar scored 6 consecutive wins against Zadar in the last 3 years.
