ABA League Round 3, Friday, 16 October 2020:

CEDEVITA OLIMPIJA - SPLIT

Where? Tivoli Sports Hall

Where? 20:00

Story of the game: In legendary Tivoli Sports Hall in Ljubljana, Cedevita Olimpija will be hosting Split in the Round 3 opener. Both squads will be looking to grab their second win of the season, but their stories are far from being the same.

While Cedevita Olimpija have started the ABA League season well, with a home win over Krka, they have afterwards been stopped by Covid-19 restrictions and were forced to miss their Round 2 game against Koper Primorska.

On the other side, Split have suffered a painful defeat in the opening round against Budućnost VOLI in Podgorica, but have bounced back effectively in the Round 2, at home in Gripe against FMP, so they are coming to Ljubljana all fired up.

Who will prevail this time? Only time can tell…

Match-up in focus: Blaž Mesiček will be back in Ljubljana and he will be challenged by the home squad’s captain Jaka Blažič. A battle of two Slovenian internationals will be an exciting one not only because they know each other really well, but also because they are the leaders of their teams. Mesiček shined at his debut for Split with 17 points and 6 assists and he will have a chance to test his skills against a more experienced counterpart on the other side this time around.

Head to head in the regional league: 0:0.
