For the first time in the ABA League history, the Best Defensive Player award will be awarded and it is Crvena zvezda mts captain Branko Lazić that has claimed the honour.

Lazić has won the highest number of votes in the traditional voting of the ABA League head coaches, journalists and basketball fans, as he won the total of 14.4% of the combined votes. He has been followed by Igokea big man Jackie Carmichael (12.8%) and another Igokea player Edin Atić (11.8%).

Lazić has won the highest number of votes in the voting of basketball fans. He has also taken the top in the voting of the journalists, this time together with Edin Atić, while Jackie Carmichael has been the most voted defensive player in the voting of the ABA League head coaches.

Branko Lazić has, just like many seasons before, been demonstrating his relentlessness, playing for Crvena zvezda mts in the ABA League courts and has once more taken his team to the first place after the ABA League Regular Season, with the record of 23:3 . While doing so, Lazić has been averaging 5.5 points, 1.8 rebounds, 0.9 steals and a valuation of 5.6 per game.

In the traditional ABA League voting for the Ideal Starting Five of the ABA League season and the individual honours, the final results of the voting will combine the votes of the head coaches of ABA League teams (50% of the total voting results), the votes of basketball journalists from the ABA League countries (30% of the total voting results) and the votes of fans (20% of the total voting results).
