Dragan Bajić, Igokea head coach, that has taken over the Laktaši squad midway through the 2019/20 season, has been selected the best coach of the 2020/21 season in the traditional ABA League voting by the head coaches of ABA League teams, basketball journalists and the basketball fans.

The experienced tactician has convincingly taken the first place in the voting, winning the total of 63.2% of combined votes. He has been followed by Cedevita Olimpija head coach Jurica Golemac, who has taken the second place, with a total of 10.8% combined votes, while Mega Soccerbet Vladimir Jovanović has received 7.8% of the combined votes.

It is worth mentioning, that Bajić has taken the first place by all three categories of voters – the head coaches, journalist and the fans as well.

Dragan Bajić has had a remarkable season on the bench of Igokea, as he has led the Laktaši squad to the ABA League Playoffs and the squad has qualified for the Top Four in the regional competition for the first time since 2012/13 season, when – you guessed it – Dragan Bajić has been at the helm of their squad as well. Igokea have finished the season with a record of 19:7 and that definitely means that they have beaten all of the expectations of the basketball fans from before the season’s start.

In the traditional ABA League voting for the Ideal Starting Five of the ABA League season and the individual honours, the final results of the voting will combine the votes of the head coaches of ABA League teams (50% of the total voting results), the votes of basketball journalists from the ABA League countries (30% of the total voting results) and the votes of fans (20% of the total voting results).

Coach of the season awards so far in the regional league:

2014/15 – Dejan Radonjić (Crvena zvezda mts)
2020/21 – Dragan Bajić (Igokea)
