Story of the game: In the opening game of the 2021/22 ABA League Qualifiers, Split will be hosting Spars in their Split Sports Hall.
Split have found themselves in the battle for a spot in the 2021/22 ABA League season after finishing 13th in the ABA League Regular Season. On the other side, Spars are entering the Qualifiers after being defeated in the ABA League 2 Finals to the new ABA League members of Studentski centar.
The thing is clear – the team that manages to score two triumphs in the Best of three series, will play in the ABA League in the 2021/22 season.
Split have the home-court advantage, as they are entering the battle from the upper-tier competition and we have to wait and see if they manage to defend their home court in the Game 1.
Match-up in focus: Marin Marić has arrived to Split midway through the season as the big reinforcement and he has helped the Yellow squad in the regional competition by averaging 9 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. This time he will be facing perhaps the best center of the ABA League 2 season Kenan Kamenjaš, who has had an average of 19 points, 10.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game in the ABA League 2. Which one of the two will shine brighter this time?
