Stipčević is staying in Novo mesto

Experienced player, who covers both guard and point guard positions, Rok Stipčević, will continue to wear Krka jersey in the forthcoming season.

“I am happy to continue my cooperation with Krka. I am glad to come back. I had several offers from other clubs. However, Krka as a club, and by that I mean President Andraž Šuštarič and Sports Director Jure Balažič, has demonstrated lots of professionalism and responsibility and they wish for me to stay in Novo mesto. I believe that there is a good and successful season ahead of us in which we can at least repeat the success that we have made last season. I am convinced that head coach Dalibor Damjanović, who is showing off his qualities with Slovenia National Team and has made his mark last season, will manage to compose a strong team full of character. I am looking forward to seeing you again in Novo mesto. Also, I am looking forward to seeing our fans supporting us in the Leon Štukelj Sports Hall,” Stipčević told as he signed the renewal of his contract.

Rok Stipčević has been born in Maribor. He started playing basketball in his hometown of Zadar and used to play also for Borik Puntamika. Between 2006 and 2010 he played for Zadar again and then moved to Cibona, before heading abroad. He played in Italy (Varese, Milan, Pesaro), afterwards in Turkey (Tofas). He returned to Italy and put on jerseys of Virtus of Rome and Dinamo of Sassari). He also played for Rytas of Vilnius. Before coming to Novo mesto, last August, he used to play for Italian side Fortitudo Bologna.

Last season Stipčević has been averaging 10.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game in the ABA League. His best game was during the home win against Partizan NIS, when he had 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.

Stipčević ostaja v Krki

Izkušeni košarkar, branilec in organizator igre, Rok Stipčević bo tudi v novi sezoni nosil dres novomeške Krke.

“Vesel sem, ker nadaljujem sodelovanje s Krko. Vesel sem, ker se vračam. Imel sem kar nekaj ponudb iz ostalih klubov. A je klub Krka, tu mislim na predsednika Andraža Šuštariča in športnega direktorja Jureta Balažića, pokazal veliko mero profesionalnosti in odgovornosti, predvsem pa jasno željo, da ostanem v Novem mestu. Verjamem, da je pred nami dobra in uspešna sezona, da vsaj ponovimo uspehe minule sezone. Prepričan sem, da bo trener Dalibor Damjanović, svoje kvalitete kaže v reprezentanci, izkazal pa se je tudi v lanski sezoni, uspel sestaviti čvrsto in karakterno ekipo. Veselim se, da se spet vidimo v Novem mestu. Predvsem pa se veselim, da nas bodo v dvorani podprli navijači in podporniki kluba,” je ob podpisu pogodbe povedal Stipčević.

Rok Stipčević (185 cm, 1984) je rojen v Mariboru. S košarko je začel v Zadru, vmes je bil član ekipe Borik Puntamike. Med letoma 2006 in 2010 je vnovič igral za Zadar, potem je postal član zagrebške Cibone, odkoder se je podal na tuje. Najprej je igral v Italiji (Varese, Milano, Pesaro), potem v Turčiji (Tofas). Sledila je vrnitev v Italijo (Virtus Roma in Dinamo Sassari). Bil je tudi član litovskega kluba Rytas Vilnius. Pred prihodom v Novo mesto, lani avgusta, je igral v dresu italijanskega Fortituda Bologne.

Stipčević je v lanski sezoni v Ligi ABA beležil na tekmo po 10.9 točke, 3.1 skoka in 2.9 podaje. Med tekmami, na kateri se je še posebej vsestransko izkazal, je bilo ob domači zmagi proti Partizanu. Takrat je 13 točkam dodal sedem skokov in pet podaj.
