Presenting the 2021/22 ABA League teams – Partizan NIS
With legendary coach Željko Obradović on their side, the black-and-whites are aiming to win everything in the following season.
Partizan NIS is that kind of club that always aims for the highest possible goals. It was the case in those years when they dominated the region, while it was also the case in the years when the prescious trophy was too far from their grasp.
The 6-time ABA League champions are waiting to reclaim the regional throne for too long now as the black-and-whites won their last ABA League title back in 2013. But, if you ask any of their fans – the wait might finally be over in the following season.
And the euphoria that has taken over the black-and-white world can be explained in just two words – Željko Obradović. Legendary basketball coach has returned to Partizan NIS to once again lead his favorite team and that might actually be the biggest basketball story in the whole Europe this summer.
As soon as Obradović became the head coach of Partizan NIS, he started creating the team for the 2021/22 season. And just by looking at the paper, that team looks very, very powerful. The Belgrade giant managed to bring in two participants of the last season’s EuroLeague Final Four – Kevin Punter and Zach LeDay who both came from Olimpia Milan. They have also acquired some other big names like Aleksa Avramović (Estudiantes), Rodions Kurucs (Milwaukee Bucks), Dallas Moore (Guangzhou Loong Lions), Alen Smailagić (Golden State Warriors), Yam Madar (Hapoel Tel Aviv) and Balša Koprivica (Florida State University), while Dušan Miletić came back from a 1-year loan in Borac.
Yes, Partizan NIS did also lose some important players like their legendary captain Novica Veličković who decided to retire from basketball this summer, as well as Ognjen Jaramaz, Rashawn Thomas, Erik Mika, etc, but the new guys that came to replace them should be more than capable of taking the black-and-whites to a whole new level.
No one knows at this moment how far Partizan NIS can go in the following season, but be quite sure that now when legendary coach Zeljko Obradović is once again on their side, the black-and-whites will be aiming to win every single trophy.
