The famous Yellow crew hope to have a much better season than the previous one.

Split are getting ready for another season in the top flight of the regional basketball in which they certainly hope to have much better results than in the previous one. Recall that the famous Yellow crew returned to ABA League last year, but their comeback season wasn’t something they will fondly remember as they finished it at the 13th place and had to play in the Promotion/Relegation Playoffs.

Still, everything ended up good for the 3-time European champions as they managed to defeat Spars in the Promotion/Relegation Playoffs and to secure their ABA League status for the 2021/22 season.

Split made some changes over the summer in their team, but it is important to mention that many players from the last-season roster will still be wearing the yellow and black jersey.

Let’s start with that changes that we’ve just mentioned. Split will have a new head coach as they appointed young Srdjan Subotić to lead the first team in the next season. Subotić haven’t previously coached any ABA League team, so this will be quite a challenge for him.

Split have kept no less than 12 players from the last-season squad, which was a great base for the new coach to start with when creating a roster for the new season. Therefore, the club did not need to buy a lot this summer and they have made  5 transfers in total, including the arrivals of Karlo Žganec (Cluj), Nejc Barič (Krka), Shawn Jones (Anwil Wloclawek), Tre McLean (Peristeri) and Tonko Vuko (Zalakeramia-ZTE KK).

At the same time, 5 players in total have left Split over the summer, including their 2020/21 top scorer Marko Luković, then Bruno Rebić, Ilija Đoković, Blaž Mesiček and Antonio Vranković.

Split will definitely be a tough opponent to anyone in the league. Especially at their home court. How far they can go in the following season? We are about to find out soon enough.
