Story of the game: Monday night schedule takes us to Podgorica where SC Derby will host Cibona in the final match of Round 5.
This is the clash of two teams that started the season very well. SC Derby opened their 1st ever AdmiralBet ABA League campaign with two wins out of four games and the league newcomers can be very satisfied with that score, especially if you take into concern that they have played just one game at home court so far.
On the other side, Cibona have won three out of four games so far and the Wolves are indeed one of the most positive surprises of the season. This new young team of Cibona is playing some top-class basketball and if they continue like this, they might even enter the Playoffs race.
SC Derby and Cibona have never faced each other in the regional league, so this will be their first head-to-head duel.
Match-up in focus: SC Derby starting point guard Kyle Vinales made a sensational performance last week as he scored 37 points to guide his team toward the win over Split. He had an overall index rating of 43 in that match and that brought him the MVP of the round award. Now, Vinales will face one of the top prospects of this region – Cibona’s 20-year-old wonderkid Lovro Gnjidić who’s been playing a very important role in each of Cibona’s games in this season.
