World Cup Qualifiers: Slovenia beat Sweden

On Sunday night, Slovenia have prevailed over Sweden in the 2023 World Cup Qualifiers and have grabbed their second win of the Qualifying Rounds. On the other side, Serbia and Croatia have suffered defeats by Belgium and Finland, respectively.

In Koper, Slovenia have faced Sweden and got away with a win, their second win of the Qualifiers. It has been a fairly close game all until its end, when the hosts have prevailed in the tight ending with the final score of 94:89. For the winning side, Klemen Prepelič led the way in scoring, as he has written down 30 points to his stats. He was followed by Cedevita Olimpija captain Jaka Blažič who added 23.

On the road in Mons, Serbia have faced Belgium and suffered their first defeat of the 2023 World Cup Qualifiers, after previously having prevailed over Latvia. This time, Serbia have been in control of the game for the majority of the playing time, leading by 8 points after the opening quarter and by 12 at halftime.

Heading into the final period, they were still up by 9 points, but then Belgium turned the game completely upside-down in the final part and celebrated a 73:69 win. For Serbia, Partizan NIS player Aleksa Avramović led the way in scoring with 19 points and Filip Petrušev added 16.

Croatia have suffered their second defeat of the 2023 World Cup Qualifiers and they have suffered it after a thrilling finish on the road in Espoo in a game, that could have gone either way. In the end, Finland prevailed with the score of 77:71 in a dramatic final minute. For Croatia, Filip Bundović led the way in scoring with 16 points on his record, while Split point guard Toni Perković and Cibona big man Danko Branković scored 10 apiece.
