AdmiralBet ABA League Round 17, Monday, 24 January 2022:
Where? Morača Sports Hall, Podgorica
When? 21:00
Story of the game: For the end of this very exciting basketball weekend in AdmiralBet ABA League, a pretty interesting game is coming up on Monday evening as SC Derby will host Split in Podgorica.
This match is very, very important for each side as both SC Derby and Split are doing their best to end their losing runs.
SC Derby have lost the previous 3 games in the championship and have therefore dropped to the bottom part of the standings. Still, it must be mentioned that the league newcomers have lost those 3 games against some of the best teams in the league – Partizan NIS, Mornar-Barsko zlato and Cedevita Olimpija, so they should not be that much upset about their ongoing losing run.
On the other side, Split are in a pretty bad position right now as they have suffered 7 consecutive defeats in the league and they are all alone at the last place on the standings. The Yellow troops therefore simply have to end that losing streak as soon as possible in order to escape the relegation zone.
In the 1st part of the season, SC Derby and Split have played one of the most exciting games of the season so far as SC Derby triumphed on the away court in Split by 101:94 in double overtime.
Match-up in focus: We are really looking forward to watch the duel between two great scores – Fletcher Magee (SC Derby) and Shannon Shorter (Split).
Magee is averaging 12.3 points this season, while he scored 10+ points in each of the previous three games of his team. At the same time, Shorter has quickly become one of the best players of Split since joining the team late last year. He has so far played just 3 games for the Yellow troops and he has averaged 18 points per game during that time.
Head-to-head score in the regional league: In total 1:0; In Podgorica 0:0.
