AdmiralBet ABA League Round 19, Monday, 7 February 2022:
CIBONA - Split 84:65 (29:8, 23:23, 16:20, 16:14)
Game recap: Cibona seized their 2nd win in a row as they prevailed over Split in Zagreb in the last game of Round 19.
The winner of this game was decided already in the 1st quarter in which Cibona scored 29 points, while Split made only 8. It is interesting to mention that Amar Gegić scored 16 out of those 29 points for the home side in the opening 10 minutes.
Cibona have therefore ended their 3-game losing run against Split in AdmiralBet ABA League and the Wolves have continued their climb on the standings in the ongoing season as they now have the overall score of 7-10.
On the other side, Split’s current position on the table is not really good as they have the overall score of 3-15.
Key moments: Cibona opened this game 5 consecutive three-pointers, while they have scored 7 threes until the end of the 1st quarter. And with Amar Gegić on fire in that period, the Wolves gained a huge lead that have successfully kept in the rest of the match.
Man of the match: Amar Gegić was the top scorer of the winning team today with 24 points, but we also have to mention the performance of Cibona’s young center Danko Branković who tied his (AdmiralBet ABA League) career-high 20 points, while he also recorded his (AdmiralBet ABA League) career-high 11 rebounds. Gegić and Branković deserve to share the MVP award in this game.
Can’t trick the stats: Cibona were just a lot better side than Split this Monday evening. The Wolves had more rebounds, more assists, then they also scored more 3-pointers than their rivals…
