This was not a good day for the national teams from our region as Montenegro, Bosnia & Herzegovina and North Macedonia all suffered defeats in the 2023 World Cup Qualifiers.

Montenegro were defeated by Hungary at home. The winner of this game was decided in the middle of the 4th quarter when Hungary made the key 7:0 run to escape on a 9-point lead – 73:64. Montenegro and Hungary are now all tied on the standings of Group B with the overall score of 2-2, while it should be mentioned that Montenegro have a better head-to-head score.

Bosnia and Herzegovina suffered defeat against Lithuania on the road. After the 1st half in which Bosnia and Herzegovina were down by just 2 points – 34:32, the BiH team scored just 24 points for the entire 2nd half and therefore let Lithuania grab quite a comfortable win. Bosnia and Herzegovina still hold the 2nd place in Group F with the overall score of 2-2.

North Macedonia have suffered another defeat in the ongoing 2023 World Cup Qualifiers as they lost the home game against Georgia. North Macedonia were down by 4 points – 69:65, with less than 4 minutes remaining on the game clock, but then Georgia made the crucial 10:0 run to seize a valuable win. North Macedonia are still the only winless team in Group G.
