Zoran Sretenović passed away at the age of 57

The ABA family is deeply saddened to hear that three-time European champion Zoran Sretenović has passed away at the age of 57.

The ABA family is deeply saddened to hear that three-time European champion Zoran Sretenović has passed away at the age of 57.

Sretenović had a remarkable basketball career as used to play for some of the biggest regional clubs including Crvena zvezda, Split and Partizan NIS.

Sretenović achieved huge success while playing for Split with whom he won 3 consecutive European Champions Cups from 1989 to 1991 and 4 domestic championships.

He also won two gold medals with Yugoslavia national team at FIBA EuroBasket 1991 and FIBA Eurobasket 1995.

After finishing his player's career, Sretenović decided to remain in basketball and to start a head coach career during which he worked in several regional clubs including Budućnost VOLI, Hemofarm Vršac, Igokea, Vojvodina...

Both today’s games of U19 ABA League Championship Semi-Finals will start with a moment of silence in honour of Zoran Sretenović.
